Where do I begin? If you have this question, read this! Firstly, you are not alone. This is the question of most of my clients when it comes to building a purposeful personal brand. If you too have this question; Here are the 3 steps for successful personal branding in my opinion 1. Take ownership of your original story Jot down on a paper, where did you begin.. from childhood. Randomly put down key events, milestones, and turning points and you will see a story emerging. 2. Take inventory of your brand story today Do a perception exercise to evaluate how people perceive you currently. What stands out in you? What are you "known for"? This will give you a baseline of where your brand is today and where do you want to take it with your story in the future. 3. Create a mission for your brand story Whom is your story dedicated to? What is it going to help them do? How is it going to make them feel? Remember If you’re not branding yourself, you can be sure others do it for you. Hello fellow entrepreneurs Copy pasting your Company's About Section and putting it in your LinkedIn profile summary/ about section is A BIG DISASTER. So never do that. I agree that in your LinkedIn summary, you should talk about Who you are Whom you help How do you help them What are your accomplishments What impact you've created Yes, you should put all this But the 'how' is the differentiating factor People think in narratives How you're going to stand out from people who have similar backgrounds, similar skill sets, and similar achievement is through your narrative? People will connect with you through your story. REMEMBER, PEOPLE BUY YOU BEFORE THEY BUY YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICE.
